Dewey Readmore Books - Cats of Iowa

This is Dewey Readmore Books, now well known as the cat in the New York Times best-selling book of the same name. Dewey was abandoned in the Spencer Library’s book return, and became known far and wide as the Spencer Library cat. This video also profiles Conrad, Iowa’s town cat, Tom, also well-loved by the entire town after being rescued. This “Living in Iowa” archived video originally aired in April of 1998 on Iowa Public Television. For more recent videos visit Iowa Public Television www.iptv.org

Anyone who has read the book will know about Dewey. If you haven’t read it…A word of advice… You will cry….
This, as other videos show, demonstrates cats can be the most lovable, affectionate pets on earth. I really can’t stand stories of animal abuse, especially sweet things like cats. We have a responsibility to treat all our pets with love, kindness, and respect. Remember to get your pets fixed, too. There are way too many strays living in misery because of uncontrolled breeding.
@Yaoiweb também paguei R$24,90 mas comprei num Carrefour aki em sampa… nosso muito bom o livro.
Quem tem um gato e gosta dele eu recomendo ler o livro ^^

My wife I read the book about him a year ago and loved it. We have 5 cats of our own.
I got a few nice p m’s from the grandson of the man that owned that hardware store.I wanted to know more info about the cat ( how it died etc) but never heard back from the guy.He said things have changed in his hometown and the store was sold later. His grandpa and Tom are together again.

@Clifurd Ha No, i’m wrong. You are north american, rsrs! Sorry! I really love the book! She’s talks everthing about Dewey, your city and little about crisi’s 1929. Hugs from Brazil ^__^!
@Clifurd Nossa, não sabia que era brasileiro =) ( ou português?..). Comprei na Saraiva. Acredito que deva ter em qualquer livraria. Paguei R$24,90. Recomendo muito, é maravilhoso! Rsrs! Bjus!
Isso é Cool! Onde você achou do livro?
@Clifurd Não, a biblioteca tem um espaço físico entre elas o suficiente para os pêlos não prejudicarem as pessas alérgicas.
the library has a space between them enough to not harm the hair people, who are allergic. Sorry for my bad english.
I im reading the book here, in Brazil =)
They probably go to another library.
Do people that are allergic to cats stay away from the library?
umm..
hopefully someday
:)
This book brought me to tears. [Dewey].
I finished a few months ago, and it just occured to me to see if the interview mentioned in the book had made it on to youtube.
I have 6 cats and love them very much [though not as much as my dogs...] and I named one of my hamsters Dewey.
That book made you cry that much? Try reading Marley and Me, or the Art of Racing in the Rain.
I’m more of a dog person though, so I suppose that’s why those hit me a bit harder
Just finished the book, i don’t think i have ever cried so much in my life! Amazing!
When you’re on your own,you can get a cat.
