Porcupine Tree - Nine Cats

album on the sunday of life lyrics: The butterfly sailed on the breeze Past a field of barbed wire trees Where golden dragons chased around Pampered poppies on the ground Two silver trout sat way on high And watched a royal samurai Plant two black orchids in a box And strap it to a laughing fox A minstrel bought a crooked spoon He gave it to a blue baboon Who filled it full of virgin snow And watched it in the afterglow Fat toad stood in his ballet shoes Teaching sixteen kangaroos How to skip across a lake They found it hard to stay awake A pharaoh played a merry tune And watched nine cats dance on the moon I didn’t know what all this meant I didn’t know why I’d been sent. The Insignificance version of Nine Cats has the following additional verse at the end: I threw 5 clocks down on my bed The chimes danced out on golden threads And turned to footprints on my wall Sequined tears began to fall

i have seen heaven! its a beutiful cloudy land with white waves rising from the blue sky and golden sea shells playing porcupine tree. there is no hunger nor pain. just pink sweet lust and honey tasting beans.
if people thumbs down this, they have a cronical maldisfunction about real good taste..
@hahahahva Space Dye Vest is also an amazing song, but I consider it a bit metal-ish. By the way, I didn’t mentioned ALL of their songs that seemed to be non-metal, that wasn’t my intention but to just name a few.
@andrw85 Considering the inclusion of Eve (one of my personal top three DT pieces), the absence of Space-Dye Vest there is truly baffling.
Here I go, being a Kevin Moore fanatic again…
@JeffELOLynne Listen to songs like “Eve”, “Disappear”, “Through her Eyes”, “Vacant” or “The Spirit Carries On”. Not everything Dream Theater does is metal.
Long live to PT and DT !
wow, what a lyric! i wonder what wilson is on :P — “A pharaoh played a merry tune
And watched nine cats dance on the moon”
Wtf do these lyrics mean? Steven Wilson must’ve still considered Porcupine Tree as a joke band at the time I guess, especially if Alan Duffy is the guy he came up with the idea with.
@akkex sry the mistake, that was what I wanted to say (:
this is just fantastic….i love porcupine tree:)
@Bucketchico lyrics was written by Alan Duffy
Maybe the best PT song.

I’m really high right now… And it’s sooooo cool listening to this song meanwhile… :E
Steven didn’t write the lyrics for this one, they were written by Alan Duffy, but the Music is all Wilson<3!
I first heard of this band in 97 or 98, I never even gave them a listen till 09. Boy was I missing something great and this has become one of my faves by them. What a great song
@Zehydra106 It sure isn’t a bad thing. It’s amazing that you really said that. :D
