haha x this was the first musical i ever watched :) i loved it :) i knew most of the words and names of them :)) and now at 12 i must admit i still lovee it :)
I just recently saw this in Pittsburgh and I was really disappointed in the production. the dancing was not in sync, the makeup just was white or brown face paint with some lines and stripes and their tails were tied onm with string. I can say that I loved the skimbleshanks number… this vid was awesome though… 5 stars
Cats was the best musical ever it was my first ever musical id seen and i really loved it and the cats interact with you and you can pet them that was really cool

You saw it even longer ago than I did xD Well I’m not sure about the Grizabella coming back down thing (would make sense though, because the cats are supposed to get reincarnated after going to the Heaviside Layer) but I’m pretty sure the only thing that was cut from the film were some extra musical bits here and there, with the exception of Growltiger.
Griddlebone is part of Growltiger I do believe, unless there was some song written about her at one point. It does make it strange to hear Griddlebone’s name in the Macavity song, though. The other things are just extra musical bits that got cut to condense the film into two hours. There are extra verses to some of the songs but I think they were scrapped long before the movie was made. I didnt know Grizabella came back down, but then again, I saw cats live in 2004, so it’s been a while.
The main part of Macavity was left out, parts of Mr. Misoffeles, parts of the gumby cat, and Grettlebones whole piece. Also at the end, Grizzabella goes up to the heavy side layer with Old Deutoronomy, but then came back down as a different beautiful cat. This is what I can remember off the top of my head.
Wow, now I’m looking forward to this coming in the mail as a dvd. Actually I’d like to see it live, but I will see it in Norwegian and it is certainly not as good as the original version.
Cats will always have a special place in my heart. But its obvious that even a high quality video like this falls short off the magic in a live theathre. Johan.

The DVD version is not complete. They left out Growltiger and many others. I saw it years ago on Broadway and loved it. Too bad the DVD is incomplete.
